Tradition.
The word of beach week with my extended family is tradition. Those experiences that we’ve come to rely on year after year.
The Official Drink® of summer: Capri Sun Surfer Cooler. It can be hard to find, but it’s well worth it.
Crabbing. This year I managed to not catch any my first time out, which was unnatural and sad. Today I caught 3, and one was a biggie.
Frozen custard from Kohr’s. There are newfangled flavor combos available, like banana-strawberry, and raspberry-something, but the classic, orange-vanilla, is the only way to go.
There are new traditions, too, of course–and simply some images and moments that say “I am at the beach.”
But most of all, it’s about time with family. Who else do you build so many traditions with?

looks like you’re having fun. my family beach trip is my favorite week of the year. the traditions are part of what makes it so special.

Looks like you’re having a great time! What a perfect week at the beach, even with your one day of rain. This post is making me reminiscent of my summers at the Jersey Shore.

Fun photos; but, I have to say, I was rather excited with the chocolate/mint twist action at the Kohr’s that I went to in Charlottesville last week. Just saying.
Now I totally have an image in my head of Topol standing behind you guys booming out “TRADITIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!” while you were chowing down on crabs.

OMG! You must be at Rehobeth or Nethany! We go every year for the past 13 years! I dream of being able to stay the whole summer. Between Candy Kitchen and Kohr’s I would be the size of a small country by the end!

It looks like you are having (had, I’m guessing) a wonderful time and totally disconnecting from real life for a while. I hope that relaxation stays with you as you get back to real life! (Although nothing’s more stressful then coming back to work after a vacation, is it?)
