you can tell i like this guy
Because I knit him a scarf. A scarf! The most boring thing to knit ever invented. A knitting staple that I have knit very rarely, because I find it so deadening to knit one thing for inches and inches and inches, with no shaping or changes.
But there must be something different about knitting a scarf as a surprise for someone who adores you—and who you’re awful smitten with—because I loved knitting this scarf from start to finish.
Scrunchable Scarf
Yarn: Moda Vera “Precious” (95% wool, 5% cashmere)
Balls: 7
Purchased at: Spotlight craft store in Plaza Singapura in Singapore
Needles: US 5 Addi Turbos
Width: About 6″
Length: About 56″
Started: early Jan, in other incarnations, but for reals with this pattern Thursday January 15, 2009
Completed: Friday, January 23, 2009
Notes: Not much to say, other than that I love the way this scarf is reversible and completely mindless to knit. I love the look of garter rib, so this sort of has that effect (but is reversible). I want to knit one for myself in another color! Here’s hoping he likes it, too.

yeah i’m pretty sure there’s no question about the fact that he likes it. :)
Not only didja knit a scarf, but a scarf in garter rib. Oh wait, you’re one of those crazy ‘loves the garter rib’ types, aren’t ya.
Nice lookin’ scarf and recipient!
Aww! Cute scarf (and cute guy :)
Lovely scarf, and the two of you are so.adorable. together. I’m sure he’ll love it!
CUTENESS!!!
It looks great! I’ve had it in my queue for a while, and maybe it’s time to cast on…
aw, I think he likes it! you guys are too cute!
Lovely scarf – sometimes simplicity is even more gorgeous than intricacy. And the recipient is adorable!
i think he likes it. it’s lovely. i may have to make one myself.
Must be true love!
Knitting for someone you adore is a truly gratifying feeling–and working on it when you were apart must have made it all the more special:)
Ah, he’s too cute (especially that dimple)! I can see why he’s fun to knit for. I’ve been planning to make it forever, but I can’t drag myself away from sweaters. I probably should get on it before scarf weather is gone…
The scarf’s adorable and so are those dimples! Yikes!
He looks very handsome it! And 5% cashmere? If it were me, that would really be saying something, in addition to knitting the most boring garment ever invented!
Well you can tell he certainly likes you! ;)
Cute! Both the scarf and the guy.
Great scarf–he looks like he loves it!
Oooh, scarf-smitten is seriously smitten. And he’s so cute, I can hardly blame you. :)
Awwwww
Knitting long rectangles kills a part of my soul with every stitch, too
He looks like he loves it! He hangs with enough crafty types round flickr to have a good idea of the work it took :)
we can all tell that he likes it and you! :) what a lovely gift!
He looks as though he likes the scarf and a happy recipient will take the sting out of a boring knit any day.
I want to knit a scarf for my cute boy, but he/we live in Louisiana, where they are kind of unnecessary. What to do?
Every single thing about this post makes me smile.
I like the guy! The scarf’s not to bad either.
what a lovely scarf! you guys look so cute together!
I really like that scarf……looks great
Boy, he’s a cutie.
Amy
I’m seconding everyone who loves that smile of his! You are one lucky duck. But then again, so is he….finding someone to make a scarf that perfect for him.
…and he’s photogenic, too! Just what you needed, a model for your knitting creations ;)
Awww . . . but he definitely needs a hat next!
Soooo cute. I love this little sequence of pictures so much. But wait. Why didn’t you include that one of you smashing the snow in his face? :)
Hi, I have been a “lurker” for ages; I love reading your blog. I just wanted to let you know that I mentioned/awarded you a “Creative Blogger Award” over on my blog. There really is no pressure to pass it on if you want to skip! (Hi, I have been a “lurker” for ages; I love reading your blog. Romance and knitting. Good combination.
Oooh, cute! …and the scarf :-p
And he really likes you to take the F.O. pics! :o) Great shots!
He’s a cutie! I understand what you mean about scarves. I just can’t do ’em either; unless it’s for someone really special!
Oh, how cute is *he*? Nice work all around!
It’s gorgeous and what a handsome scarf wearer. I am totally with you on scarves being boring to knit and yet they are one of the nicest things to wear.
Great series of photos! Love the scarf and the smile…
looks like he likes it!!!
:-)
it will be cute to have one for you- you’ll be matching.
Too cute. I find scarves boring as well, but so gratifying when they’re done, because I have a warm neck – yay! I love how this one turned out – color, knit, all!
That grin is pretty adorable too. :D
I think the best part is you can see he totally likes you! I love that in this picture. Nice scarf too.
You are awfully smitten with him! I would be too since he clearly appreciates handknits! He’s a cutie in it.
Yea, this boy definitely likes this girl. The scarf is amazing :) Thanks Erin!
aw, and it looks like it’s already gone to great use! i’m so happy for you and jason :)
Yeah, I think he likes it…. Or is that look for the girl on the other side of the camera?!!?!? ;~O
Cute & then some!
Wish I could also say “they’re so easy I get bored”. I have not quite reached that point. Yet. And that scarf looks awesome but you know that already. :-)
So goodlooking!! I mean the scarf – yeh, the scarf!
Nice scarf, and cute boy too :)
