yoga & knitting come together

It’s not a normal combination, and even now, it’s kind of a stretch, but yoga and knitting came together for me today.

After class, my teacher came up and said that she’d heard I was a really “awesome knitter.” I said yes, and started to say “did you want to learn?” but she had moved on: She knows a person who works at a small boutique in the city that sells yarn, clothing, and will sell knitted items if I’ve got some to sell. And she wanted to put me in touch with her friend, because she was all excited at the idea of me selling pieces. So, cool! Not that I have any body of work available for selling, but I do have some stash to work through.

sleeve progress

I’m making great progress on the sleeve. I’m happy I didn’t do the extra 10 stitches, though I’m not sure it would have been a significant difference. I followed the pattern though–no alterations. There’s one short row/wrap that I sort of think was unnecessary, and is causing a little ‘pucker’ of sorts. I suppose it’ll block out, but I wish I’d noticed sooner, because I think not doing that last wrap would have fixed it. Oh well.

magical mystery tour

Tonight, I made an advancement in my knitting life.

See, I learned to knit when I was 8 years old. Mom taught me. I played around a lot, never really got super into it, but always considered myself a knitter. In college, a friend organized a club to knit hats to donate to homeless shelters. A bunch of my hallmates were going to participate and learn to knit, and my latent knitting self came forth. But there was no real advancement in my knitting.

boy I hope you guys are right

Because this line is totally ridiculous. It’s not some ‘oh, if I look closely there’s a ridge,’ it’s ‘fold this garment right here because there’s already an indentation’. Argh! If only I’d thought to tink (per Rachel’s suggestion). But at the time I wasn’t sure it was because of the frogging–I’ve never had this happen before. And I frog everything.
