whole lotta nothin’

mohonk!

I’ve been in and out of New York lately–Philly, Delaware–and then away on a business trip during the week last week. And I’ve barely been knitting. But happily that business trip (a workshop retreat) was in a gorgeous place. The Mohonk Mountainhouse in Mohonk, NY, was like something out of either The Shining or Dirty Dancing. I know those two movies aren’t usually confused, but believe me.

happy father’s day!

dad day!

Mom gets a lot of blog-time, probably because she’s a knitter and she attends fiber festivals with me. But my dad is really awesome, too–he coined the catchphrase “2007: The Year of Erin,” and he’s just generally supportive and kind and interesting to talk to. I searched my archives and I’m sad to see I rarely take photos of dad–will have to start making up for that when I see him next! For now, Happy Father’s Day, dad!

sound swap

Jennie was the mastermind behind Sound Swap–my very first swap. I don’t even know why I was inspired to participate–I’m not some huge music junkie–but I’m really glad I did.

First, making my own mix was a lot of fun (and a decent amount of work!). I was making the mix for Sprite, who had said in her questionnaire that she liked pretty much anything, so that was no help. I decided to make a mix of songs that were happy–things that made you want to dance around, tap your toe, or just sing your heart out. The easy way out would have been to burn a copy of the CD that Rachel made for me in the fall. But I’m no cheater! (So, ok, I used a few of the songs. I’m just a little cheater.) Here’s the mix I came up with.
