boy I hope you guys are right

Because this line is totally ridiculous. It’s not some ‘oh, if I look closely there’s a ridge,’ it’s ‘fold this garment right here because there’s already an indentation’. Argh! If only I’d thought to tink (per Rachel’s suggestion). But at the time I wasn’t sure it was because of the frogging–I’ve never had this happen before. And I frog everything.

damn line

It its, perhaps, a bit exacerbated by the angle of the shot here, being from below and with a bright flash . . . right?

Okay, I have to admit that’s a stronger line than I’ve usually seen. I can’t see up close, but I assume you put all your stitches back on the needle in the correct direction, right? Other than that, I can’t think of what would cause it to be so pronounced.

You could put the WIP on scrap yarn and wash and block it as it is — that way you’ll know if the problem can be solved that way. If it can’t, better to find out now than after you finish, right? And if it’s fixed, then you won’t have to waste time worrying about it anymore. I’ll be hoping for the latter.

That’s a good idea. It is so ugly and awful and so foreign to me, and I’m at a loss for what to do. I will never wear the sweater if it doesn’t go away!

That is really strange. I’ve never seen that either, except for a whole line of twisted stitches. Even that might look different than what you’ve got going. Sorry. I hate these kind of bizarre knitting mysteries. It’s like the yarn has a mind of its own. I also think Rachel’s plan is a good one. I might be allergic to blocking (LOL!), so I’d probably frog it, though.
