babies, babies everywhere

I’ve got at least 3 babies to knit for in the coming months. My boss, who’s having her first kiddo, is beyond excited, and is due in April. I was thinking of making a baby blanket for this one.

I recently read The Golden Ratio, which is all about phi, or 1.61803399 . . . It’s a number very closely tied to the Fibonacci sequence (you know, 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 . . .) And in the book there’s an image of a Fibonacci rectangle—which could be used to make the Fibonacci spiral, which is also a golden section. (Confusing, I know, but look:)

baby bootees: love of my life

What some of you don’t know about me is that I really don’t like children all that much. I cannot see myself having one, or adopting one, or otherwise sharing my life with one. It’s just not for me. But as a knitter, of course, I luuurve baby items. And I love nothing more than baby bootees. These baby bootees. I’m spelling them Debbie Bliss’s way, because it is her baby bootee (this one in particular) that almost manages to spark something in me to actually have a kidlet.

baby cardigan: nearly done

I went out on the deck to get some shots with good light, and got perhaps a little carried away. This is not a finshed garmet, after all. But it looks so cute! Here you can see the shot that’s in the book, which was actually my inspiration for the little cutaway. In the book, it looks as if it falls away to the sides, despite there being no apparent shaping at the edges. But it’s all deception and lies, really :) I covered the baby’s face because, well, it looks a little crazed.
