sunrise circle: finished!
I spent a good deal of yesterday hunting down toggle buttons. My friend Goldie suggested I find ones that looked like bamboo, and I thought that would be a great idea. But no such buttons could be found, and (albeit brief) web searches didn’t turn any up either. I was willing to settle for simple toggles, but ohmygod there are no toggle buttons anyway. I found one, maybe two made of wood at one place. Eventually I found these at Sophie’s Yarns, and they’re fine.
Pattern: Sunrise Circle Jacket from Interweave Knits; participated in the knitalong
Yarn: KnitPicks’s Wool of the Andes in Fern
Balls: Bought 9, used 8 (only a small amount of that 8th)
Needles: US size 7; used a circular throughout
Size: XS (33 1/2″)
Started: Saturday, February 25
Finished: Sunday, March 19 (knitting and seaming was done Monday, March 13)
Notes: This is a gift for my mom and as such is a size smaller than I would wear. I can put it on, and I’m happy with its construction, but it looks ridiculous. So there will be no shots of me modeling it. Besides, I feel as though I’m stretching it out across the shoulders–I can’t really even think about buttoning it. Well, that’s not true. I put it on and buttoned it, and I like the placement; if I had a smaller chest it would be perfect. Anyway, I was initially concerned about the fit but it turned out just as I’d hoped it would!

It looks kinda Chinese. Very nice!
Fantastic! I like the buttons you found after all. Please let us know how your mum liked it. :)
Quite wonderful! I wanted to knit this but the cost of the yarn kept me away– I’m thrilled to see your sucessful use of WOTA… I think this’ll go back on my knit list after seeing your post.
Beautiful, beautiful!!! I’m so impressed! The buttons look great, too!
That is awesome! Great job on it! Sorry it didn’t fit you, but glad you have someone you can give it to :)
I like the color you chose. It looks great!
Love this! I hope your mom will send a modeled shot for you to post. I think the buttons look really nice with the shape of the jacket.
Wow, Minty, it’s beautiful. What great motivation to start mine! :)
