double the fun!
Remember the twins? My friends’ babies are growing at what seems to me an alarming rate. (Which is why I can’t knit them baby clothes right now. I’ve tried.) Interestingly, they’ve gone from not looking too much like either of their parents into a pair where one resembles dad, and the other clearly has her mom’s eyes. It’s fascinating.
This is Violet with the dodecahedron. Here’s here sister, Charlotte, with the icosahedron. This shot shows the red “base,” which wasn’t very clear in the FO post.
I spent a lovely day with the twins and their parents last weekend, in a snowy Connecticut. This meant we nestled down on the couch, and my friend and I knit. Or, rather, we had a tutorial. I’d taught her to knit back in college, and she was eager to pick it back up again to make a blanket for each of her girls. So we went over the basics of a log cabin, knitting up a little swatch, and we discussed yarn options. I can’t wait to see her progress–and I hope she knows I’ll be finding a way to feature it on the blog.
We also got to see the dinosaurs being well loved (well, Stegs—Trice must have crawled under the couch or something, because he didn’t come when we called).
I know you can’t tell, but Violet is chewing on his tail, and it’s awesome.

Aww. It’s so nice to see your knits well loved!
Those are awesome baby toys! I’ve seen them before and will have to keep them in mind when more baby showers come around!
Well if those aren’t the cutest pictures ever, I don’t know what are! Knit toys are always so fun, I have my eye on several to knit for expectant mommies to be! Yours look great :)
Hi Minty!
I wish I had a friend nearby who could guide me through the complicated ways of knitting. They´re extra complicated if you try to understand the drawings (I pass the yarn around the back of my neck and find no diagrams for that) or even instructions in english (I´m a native portuguese speaker). So I envy your friend for having such a good teacher! :)
By the way, I tried to knit your Bainbridge Scarf but due to my lack of knowledge made huge modifications. ;)
And how good is it to see the things you´ve done to be well loved by the twins!
looks like those toys are very well loved! when you cant’ knit clothes, toys are just as good! (and will probably be used longer! they can’t outgrow them!)
::squee:: Babies! With awesome mathematical baby toys! I think knitting toys in lieu of clothes for the fast-growing wee ones is a fabulous idea.

Awesome baby pictures! I love seeing babies with their knitted goods. Thanks for reminding me about the dodecahedron pattern. I think that’s just what my baby needs. :)
awwww!! Such cutie patooties!
Twins are always a gas, and how fun to watch them frolic with the Pepperknit Toy Collection ™!
Hey, where in snowy Connecticut were you? Probably not near me as snow CT was cut short by rainy CT. Blech. I think any mom of twins should be considered a hero. It sounds like you had a good visit!
So adorable!
Violet and Charlotte are beautiful names, by the way. Though I know that’s not the point of this post.
Seeing these knitted toys in action makes me want to rededicate myself to the Knitpicks Crayon in my stash. I don’t know that I’m up for mathematically fancy shapes, but I could probably manage a ball or a square or something. Even though that probably means I’d be dooming the baby to remedial math class for life.
Those toys are perfect – I love those pictures!
Ooooh, I love the red spine of the icosahedron! The more I see these (with bokeh babies! the cuteness!), the more I’m yearning to knit one.
When my nephew was younger, someone in my family gave him a toy shaped like these, but it had a vibrating thingy in it. It was disturbing to watch him hold the thing and shake. I much prefer this softer, gentler version!
