eye candy friday
Before spring takes over completely, I’m happily remembering the fabulous snowstorm from two weeks ago. We haven’t had nearly the amount of snow the Midwest has been socked with, so I’m savoring every flake.

It’s windy and cold here in Houston, but no snow. :( No surprise, really. Thank you for sharing the pictures; they are lovely!
Love the sledding hill photo! It reminds me of my childhood in snowy Minnesota.
*sigh* we’re getting another 30cm here in toronto tonight. boo. i guess that’s what i get for calling mother nature a bitch!
That last picture is great–I love how snow transforms you hardened New Yorkers (you know who you are ;)) into kids.
ooh the flexible flyer! i had one when i was a kid!
i love the colors in that first photo.
Beautiful photos! In case you don’t know, that first photo is of the Witch Hazel (Hamamelis viriginiana). It is one of the first shrubs to bloom in the very early spring – really still winter here in our area. I love seeing photos of this tenatious plant with snow and ice on its flowers. Central Park (at leas that is were I assume you took the photo) is so full of amazing plants. I am always amazed at the treasures to be found there.
Ah, sledding! One of the few things I miss about winter.
Winter. What’s that? I just came back to my desk from outside and was just thinking what a perfect day it would be to lay by the pool and relax. We’re so deprived.
That first picture is amazing. All of them are wonderful, but that first one – WOW.
reminds me I want to dig out my photos… and even though I dont particularly like the cold, makes me long for another snowy weekend so me and my camera can go play in Central Park :)
I’m with you… Though we received snow this winter, it wasn’t nearly enough for my liking. I love winter, though…
I love your Witch Hazel photo! We have one, too…it makes for great pictures. Does yours have a lot of lichen “communities” on it? Ours is loaded.
The last shot is incredible! Look at all those bright spots of color!! Fantastic!!
I, too, fell for the witch hazel photo, (which is not Hamamelis virginiana that blooms in the fall but probably one of the hybrid cultivars of H. x intermedia). Whatever it is, wouldn’t it make a great colorway? I love witch hazels for the crimped yarn tassled appearance.
If only today’s rain was snow – then we could all go sledding one last time this winter!
